In the past week, Pool Water Recycling has managed to conserve more than 95,000 gallons of water and we want to use this blog post to share with you how we did it! For the past four months, we have been using or mobile filtration trailer that is equipped with Reverse Osmosis (RO) filtration to recycle swimming pool water. We decided on this adventure earlier this year after meeting with Pure Water Industries in San Diego. They have been building mobile filtration trailers for the past seven years and with the number of swimming pools along with our current drought conditions it made perfect sense for us to start recycling swimming pool water in Santa Ana, South Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside. Do to our hard water conditions in Southern California, it’s recommended to change out the water in your swimming pool every couple of years because of high levels of calcium hardness, total dissolved solids, cyanuric acid and so much more. When the water gets “hard” it can be more challenging to take care of, high calcium levels stain the water tile line, stains the liner and causes a decreased lifespan of motors and filtration equipment. When you service a swimming pool, checking for phosphates and calcium hardness is just as important as checking for adequate levels of chlorine. Proper sanitation is vital in keeping your swimming pool blue and clear but what happens when calcium hardness and total dissolved solids levels rise?
Most pool professionals or pool stores will recommend a water change when these levels increase. Typically, when calcium hardness levels rise above 600 parts per million (ppm) or TDS levels rise above 3,000ppm (in non salt pools); they will recommend a water change. As a swimming pool owner you can either drain your swimming pool or choose to recycle it using the Puripool Process. If you choose a drain and refill, it is important to note that this process can take 2-3 days, there’s a risk of cracking the liner of the pool and the tap water is already moderately hard. Whereas, with Pool Water Recycling we can come to your residence or commercial space with our mobile trailer and recycle the water instead. By using RO membranes we can lower calcium hardness, total dissolved solids, cyanuric acid, phosphates, salts, waterborne diseases and so much more without draining the pool. This takes away all the risks of cracking the liner, we will conserve up to 85% of the water in the swimming pool, you can swim in the pool while the process is being done and we can typically do this in less than a day. Our mobile trailers run on their own power, can run day or night because they are no louder than an AC unit and can make the quality of water in your swimming pool much better than tap.
In the past week, we’ve recycled four different swimming pools and have been able to conserve roughly 95,000 gallons of water. As a homeowner, the single largest water conservation act that one can do is not drain their swimming pool. The service we provide is top notch and you will notice a difference in the feel of your water too. Interested in learning more about how we can help you…..
